After graduating from UCT Drama School, Rosalind worked as an actress, improviser, director and writer. She’s focused on her passion- writing- since 1998. Rosalind’s diverse style is dominated by emotional depth, humour and character driven story.

 Rosalind’s writing highlights include:

 Home Affairs seasons 1-4, Penguin Films’ one hour drama series for SABC 1, nominated for Best TV Drama Series for the International Emmy Awards in 2006 and 2008.

 Hotel Majestic  - (Nigeria) MNet Africa’s Telenovela, first screened in 2015.

Castle and Castle - Nigerian law series produced by Ebony Life, screened on Netflix in 2020.

Saints and Sinners - Season 1,2,3 Mzanzi Magic's hit one hour drama series, produced by Penguin Films.

 4play: Sex Tips For Girls season 2, produced by Quizzical Pictures for eTV, winner of BEST WRITING TEAM at the 2013 SAFTA Awards.

 Rosalind’s first major television writing job was co-creating and head writing  Soul Buddyz seasons 1 and 2, youth drama television series for Soul City and SABC Education which won

BEST CHILDREN'S DRAMA IN AFRICA  and BEST EDUTAINMENT IN AFRICA at  CBFA  SITHENGI 2003 CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL.

 An Unromantic Comedy, a play by Rosalind Butler, was nominated for the Naledi Theatre Awards in the category of BEST NEW SCRIPT.  

Rosalind also co-wrote the story for the hit feature film Material.  

 Rosalind is an extremely experienced daily drama writer.  She worked in all aspects of

SABC 3’s  awarding wining Isidingo’s writing department, including a stint as head writer.

 At present, Rosalind is a writer and storyliner on Scandal!, eTV’s number one soap which  has just been nominated as  the SAFTA’ S BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN SCRIPT WRITING - TV SOAP for the second consecutive year.

Rosalind loved being part of the writing team for  MNet’s hit drama series Lioness.

Chantal Stanfield

Chantal Stanfield is a South African-born, all-round performer who has graced numerous stages, screens and studios around the world. She graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2005 with her BA Theatre and Performance Bilingual degree (Dean’s List) from UCT in 2005, majoring in English, Theatre and Drama.

Stage… Her solo theatre work includes self-penned play From Koe’siestes To Kneidlach, directed by Megan Furniss, which enjoyed sold-out seasons at Theatre On The Square and The Baxter Theatre, and was a worthy first outing for her fledgling production company Kizara Kreative. Her solo cabaret Ladies First, directed by Natalia Da Rocha, enjoyed its premiere at the Darling Voorkamerfest. Chantal has headlined numerous cabaret and tribute shows including corporate shows in the Seychelles and London, and Turkish tours of tribute shows 80’s Mania and Queen, and Spanish tours of 80’s All Stars. Her dramatic turns included Mixed Metaphors and Six Characters In Search Of An Author, and musicals Rock Of Ages and Seussical.

 

Screen… Chantal is perhaps best known for her television work. She can currently be seen on SABC2’s comedy Ak’siSpaza as ‘Jade’. A few of her other leading roles include LGBTQ+ character ‘Sasha Kuipers’ on popular Afrikaans soapie Binnelanders, her physio ‘Lindy Davids’ on Getroud Met Rugby, conniving ‘Dalene Phillips’ on Montana and her recurring role over the years on Sewende Laan of ‘Cecile Whittaker’. Film work includes South African feature film Farewell Ella Bella, and Kyknet films Die Skandaal, Die Staat se Bul, Gelukbringer and Hondelewe. The commercial front has seen her headline in adverts for Bob Martin SA, Budget Car Insurance and Miway.

 

Studio Chantal’s debut single “Walk It Off” and the follow-up “Nothing There” have both been warmly received and continue to be widely playlisted on South African airwaves, across the African continent and further afield. Her voiceover work covers various radio, dubbing and television advert work for the last decade and a half, from Vodacom and Caltex to MAQ and SABC social initiatives. Recent voicework includes Afrikaans dubbing of various Turkish television series.

Buhle Ngaba

Buhle Ngaba is a multi-award winning South African actor, writer and speaker.

 She studied Acting and Contemporary performance at Rhodes University and Processes of Performance at the University of Leeds (UK). She performed in the world premiere of John Kani’s play Missing at the Baxter Theatre (SA) and went on to tour internationally with the production earning her national nominations for “Best Supporting Actress” for both the Fleur Du Cap Theatre Awards and the Naledi Theatre Awards.

 In 2016, Ngaba won the prestigious Brett Goldin Bursary, which earned her opportunity to expand her knowledge of Shakespeare and acting ability at The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) (Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK). It is during her time there, that Ngaba began to conceptualise and write her first one-woman play - Swan Song.

 In 2018, she played Bianca in an all-women cast of The Taming of the Shrew for the annual  Maynardville Theatre (SA) offering, solidifying the experience she had gained at the RSC and her yearning to teach what she had learnt. These experiences resulted in her curating Shakespeare Grounded; a  programme consolidating all she learnt whilst at the RSC with the aim of teaching these skills to young learners in South Africa. The programme facilitates access to Shakespeare through a practical approach between teacher and student. The programme can be adjusted to suit any number of pupils and is inclusive of all students. Since its inception, Ngaba has implemented it at the University of Cape Town (2018/19) and at AFDA Film School (2020).

 She was nominated to form part of the Shakespeare Society of South Africa’s Executive Committee (Theatre portfolio, 2020).

COVID-19 has impacted the performing artists globally. In response to this, Ngaba spearheaded the #lockdownshakespeare initiative with the South African Shakespeare Society, contributing to the SA arts economy by promoting theatre makers and helping to provide some financial support.

 Ngaba is conducting research for her new novel that is focused on the life and times of her great aunt Ruth Mompati. Said research commenced in 2019 alongside her mother, Sindi Ngaba before her sad and untimely death following cancer.

Natasha Sutherland is an actress, writer, director and producer working in the arenas of theatre, TV, & Film.  Most recently she was asked by director Lesedi Job to adapt Tracy Going’s memoir,  ‘Brutal Legacy’ into a stage play,  which ran to critical acclaim at Daphne Kuhn’s Theatre on the Square , as well as the Hilton Arts Festival. Natasha has written for television, created children’s theatre, corporate musicals , and had a regular column in Finesse magazine. She has a published children’s book ‘Green and Blue’, as well as two memoirs, one of which was a SA bestseller.

When involved in public speaking Natasha’s drawn from her storytelling background as well as her UNISA Logotherapy studies to write interactive forums  addressing issues about trauma and disconnection. This body of written work coupled with her intention to create stories with a shared resonance has  seen Natasha become the recipient of the Finesse Reader’s Choice award, as well as the Mbokodo Award for Theatre.

Her plethora of acting work has added to Natasha’s passion for creating narratives. Her recent acting credits include The Market Theatre’s  ‘Meet me at Dawn’  ( for which she received a best actress Naledi nomination),  Michelle Douglas’ ‘Breathing Space’ for the Virtual National Arts Festival, ‘ The Revlon Girl’, and ‘Shirley Valentine’. More recently Natasha was in the hit Mnet television series ‘Lioness’.

Greg Homann is a multi-award winning South African-born theatre director, playwright, dramaturg, and academic now living in the UK. His practice is led by a playful and curious pursuit of innovative theatre forms and cutting-edge styles.

For over 15 years he worked in South Africa where he was associated with some of the most successful, hard-hitting and critically acclaimed work staged in that country in its recent past. He is a world expert on post-apartheid plays. He has designed and taught directing, playwriting and acting courses, and has lectured broadly on topics that include post-colonialism, theatre history, and identity studies.

He has been lauded for his dramaturgy and directing of productions of new work, having directed ten premieres – six of them new South African plays. His playful and cheeky takes on world-classics are also a key feature of his portfolio.

Between 2013 and 2017, Greg headed up two of the foremost tertiary-level theatre and performance departments in Johannesburg. He has been extensively engaged in the delivery of outreach and community engagement programmes in school halls, community centres, and as Resident Dramaturg of The South African State Theatre. For three years he was part of the Artistic Committee of the National Arts Festival.

His theatre productions have enjoyed both box-office and critical success at almost every major theatre in South Africa, including The Market Theatre, The Fugard Theatre, Artscape, The Durban Playhouse, The Theatre on the Square and The South African State Theatre. His work has been a staple at the Hilton Arts Festival and the National Arts Festival. The productions he has directed and/or written have been nominated for over forty awards, winning twelve Naledi Theatre Awards including two for Best New Play and two for Best Cutting-Edge Production. In 2014 he was the recipient of South Africa’s highest accolade for theatre, the prestigious Standard Bank Young Artist Award.

Greg’s most recent productions in the UK are Humans at Work at the Warwick Arts Centre, When Swallows Cry at the RADA Festival 2019, and a sharing of In Our Skin for Birmingham’s SHOUT Festival.

Greg was part of the “First Four” How Now Brown Cow Writer’s Collective under the mentorship of William Nicholson.

He is currently writing and teaching (virtually) from Guildford.
